This is what commuting has done to me…

A new beginning

22 Apr

My time at Milton Bayer has come to an end… But a new beginning starts at the brilliant Type 3 Digital agency in London, which I’m really excited to be joining as Senior Digital Designer.

…I’d like to thank the Acadamy…

One of my website designs, namely Enjoy England’s  monsterfamilyfun.com has just won a top awards at this years CIMTIG The Travel Marking Awards, taking “Best Website” for Milton Bayer.

I wasn’t able to attend due to pressing work commitments, but I did send along a video thanking everyone in attendance and giving my acceptace speech. Unfortunately it wasnt shown for some reason. In fact, it wasn;t even mentioned.

Anyway, I can now add this award to my virtual collection of awards, which looks like this:

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye.

5 Feb

The time has come to say goodbye to DozBlogThing Version 1. Its been good to me, getting a lot of recognition:

But its time for a change. My Portfolio site is about to change, and with it I’m changing this blog to a new style. Its a customisation of a cool template that allows the use of @font-face technology, to give the Blog use of non websafe fonts.

So with gistening eyes, we look up DozBlogThing version one, and salute it with honour, and send it to the murky depths; and at the same time we give a welcoming smile and a cheeky, chimney-sweep wink to Version Two, and wish it all the very best of luck – particularly as it is often cruelly starved of nourishing posts.

..You can’t see, but I’m blushing.

Alternativa – The Flash 3D Engine to Watch

13 Jun

Papervision is great – Its exploding across then Rich Multimedia Flash design community. But my big criticism with it (in its current form) is loading time – sites just take too long.

Now – check out Alternativa’s Engine demos: http://www.alternativaplatform.com/en/alternativa3d/

This new company have developed an open-source engine that blows papervision away in terms of loading speed and performance – check out the Bunker demo an notice how the rest of the level’s textures stream whilst you play. I believe that this engine is the one to watch, and with their proposed Windows-based object management system, there’s a chance that designers may be able to use it (not just hard-core programmers).

Oh, and check out the “Flat” demo on the above page – you can use a spraycan to vandalise the walls!
